Website S McKeever
Employer under Direct Payments
I am both the employer and mother of my 23 year old son who is nonverbal and is diagnosed with Autism.
My son lives with me and my husband in our family home in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.
I am looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to assist in the provision of 2-1 support, in order to meet my son’s assessed needs by Sunderland Council and provide his father and I a break from our caring role.
My son is of large build and quite strong, which requires him to have 2-1 support to assist in managing the behaviors he has which are associated to his Autism and frustrations of not being able to communicate effectively.
My has a lovely smile and has a good sense of humour, often laughing and giggling to himself when he is amused by things he likes.
He loves to be active and enjoys the outdoors. He particularly loves drives out in the car. This appears to be a safe place and have a calming effect on him, which can often be used as a place of calm and safety when he is anxious or upset.
My son can be physically aggressive to others and lash out towards people at arm’s length if he is upset or angry, however there are techniques to manage this and this will supported by the primary PA. He does not cope well in very crowded or noisy places and will pull you away, which means he wants to leave
