It’s a big birthday today for one Wearside woman today.
Wyn Davison is turning 102 today and will be celebrating with the help of Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Service as members of the crew are due to present her with a cake.
It’s after the service came to inspect the fire alarms in the area, when one officer spotted her letter from the Queen.
Upon her nephew Ron telling him of her upcoming birthday he said he would like to contribute to the big day.
Ron said his Sunderland born and bred auntie credits hard work as her secret to longevity.
Wyn served in the Women’s Royal Air Force during the war, Finkel’s cake shop in Southwick, then volunteering for the meals on wheels service in Washington and then fundraised for the Great North Air Ambulance.
He is looking for people to send their birthday wishes for him so he can pass them onto Wyn.
Ron says Wyn loves to meet new people and so far she has received over 500 cards.
If you would like to send Wyn a card or message please address it to: Wyn Davison C/O, 98 Rowan Avenue, Washington, NE38 9AG.
