We are excited to bring to you the first Sun FM bike challenge with Springboard and Discover Edventure on Saturday 12th October.
You can choose from either the elite ride at 103.4km or the family ride which is 10.34miles.
The Elite One
This is a ride following three of the major NCN routes in the region. It starts on the C2C route number 7, heading West towards Consett. It then follows the Keelmans Way route 14 to Blaydon and along the River Tyne to South Shields. The final leg is on Route 1 along the beautiful coastline to Roker. Parts of the route are on very minor roads.
The Fun One
This is a 10.34 mile family ride along Route 1 to Marsden and back along the cliff tops near Whitburn to Roker. It is totally on traffic free cycle paths.
Registration costs £20 pp (£60 for a family of 4), with the pledge of raising at least £50 sponsorship for Springboard (£100 for a family). The registration costs cover transport, stewarding, help stations, support vehicles, commemorative-shirt and end of ride party.

Springboard aims to support the development of sustainable communities, where people have the skills for work and life. Springboard has a successful history of providing training, education and community support for over 40 years in the North East. Donations from this bike ride will help with Springboard’s mission, and will also help towards Springboard Futures.
Springboard Futures provides high quality further education, supported training to those in Sunderland who have a recognised autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), learning difficulties and disabilities (LLDD).
Our provision of specialist staff, resources and equipment will enable students with learning difficulties and disabilities to make the transition to adulthood.
Springboard Futures has been set up to support individuals with complex needs in their transition to a more independent adult life. In order to do this, we need to raise as many funds as possible for our sensory rooms, specialist resources, assistive technology and software.
There has been a massive national reduction for resources and support services for those with ASD and complex needs across the country. This has resulted in many individuals who require specialist additional support not having access to basic facilities and equipment.
